1) Change the map timer from infinite to just fairly long. 20-30 min to start with +5m every cap? It'd be nice to see some sort of effort being made to perform objectives rather than it just be a neverending KoTH for the tower on a CP map. It seems that this is a bigger influence on rank than skill.

That being said...

2) Throw up some rank point incentives for capturing points. 2 to the whole team is nice, by why not 4-8ish personal points for those that capture? I'm not sure of the limitations of this but perhaps only apply this to 4v4+.

Now, I don't care much about rank as it has no application for me. I'd just like to see more competition and I thought this may be well-received since your clan runs off of the rank system.

if this is for the rotation server these are great ideas. i kinda noticed that people sometimes do not want to take the responsiblity to rtv and you sit on maps for like 50 minutes.

Eh, I kinda like the whole "continuous warfare" aspect of cp_orange_x (it also makes winning a round an impressive feat). That's the reason I play on it, at least. After all, it really doesn't have anything besides that to offer... if you want quick, efficient games, play on stock maps.
I'm up for incentives to pursue the objectives, but I wouldn't support adding a time limit.

Just my two-bits.

For 1) I agree with this but instead of map timer we can do round timer. This would make it so the map wouldn't cycle you out of game making it so a bunch of people leave. I wholeheartedly agree that having a time limit causes a bit more of a competitive atmosphere and people try a little harder.

For 2) I am not sure that would be a great idea because some points get capped like crazy back and forth and would make the rest of the ranking points obsolete.

Thanks for the suggestions though.

I meant round timer to begin with Razz

Make it 2 points with the captures, just something special. Make it competitive. Staying on a point long enough to capture it says a lot more about the skill involved in being part of a competitive clan than tower camping or sniping. The entire team already benefits the work of one, two, maybe three people capturing, why shouldn't the individual be rewarded too?

I agree. I played on some servers with ranking plugins and they had a reward for being on the capture point.

I think this is good, but it could be skewed if someone comes on and just captures alone to whore points at like 3 am. Maybe points for capturing should be disabled until 4v4?

I emphasized a long but finite timer for the same reason. I agree with you, but sitting at a tower stalemate for an hour or two really isn't fun for the losing team. The new engineer update really compounds the problem with stalemates on Orange3.

Right now the plugin already gives 2 points for captures.

We could increase it to 4 points?

A minimum # players requirement like the killstreak plugin would be good but i will wait with suggesting this. I expect the plugin developer to update his plugin by tomorrow so the new engie kill events will be included.

I think the 2 points are actual Teamfortress points but those scores you see when pressing TAB are different then the points the rank plugin gathers. I would have to test this to be sure. You can type session in chat to find out if you got any points as a capturer by typing that after a capture and check if your points got increased.

why not apply the not infinite timer to our rotation server so we actually have rotation....

Please stay on topic here. This discussion is about the 2 suggestions made by mad hatter.

As for your post Vlad, we had it set to rotate every 30 minutes and the server would empty almost instantly on map change. This method at least has kept players in the game and on the server.

Ok we set the orange server for a 60 minute round timelimit. Each time a point is capped it adds 5 minutes but to a max of 60. I think this is a good starting point that can be tweaked with time.
