IRC is an old system to chat and share information. Still widely used since it is PERFECT for huge crowds.

IRC is an example of "if it works, don't fix it". it's a chat protocol invented a long time ago to serve as a way for programmers to collaborate. it's about 10X more reliable than steam group chat as well.

Same, but I don't think this will be a success. The only people who know about IRC are Adam, me, Hobo, JameLess, Eraser(?) and maybe some other techies. Won't be very crowded on it, kinda the same as how dead the pulp chat was after 2 days...

IRC is also used to find scrims. Read here:
Second, you'll want an IRC client - mIRC is best but any result on Google for 'IRC client' works too. Connect to GameSurge (/server irc.gamesurge.net) and join (/join) channel #tf2scrim to find a scrim, channel #tf2.gather.us to play a pick up game, or website ESEA to play a pick up game.
