I meant, now, I've been inspired to emulate it, which I will do later.

Shut up I was tired.

Why emulate if you can just grab you good old PS1 fromt he attic and play it.... FOR REAL!
Yes I still own AND frequantly use a modded PS1. I also own a gamepad for PC and a laptop that's capable of Wii emulation but nothing beats the real deal...

If it is PC, it beats the real deal, especially if you can connect your Wii-mote via blue-tooth.

I never liked FFVII, in fact the only Final Fantasy I ever enjoyed was FFX...

FFX was such a huge failure Pepper. I stopped playing FF's at that one!

What about 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6? Especially 4, 5, and 6. Those were some of my favourite games of all time!

I and II were to plain for me.
III, VI V, never played them.
VI, planning to play that one for a long long time but never got to it. Maybe I'll start this weekend.
VII, couldn't really get into the story
VIII and IX, was disapointed by VII, never tried.
X international (harder European release), liked it except for most of the voicecast. It would had been a lot better if they had either included the original Japanese voicecast or re-lipsynched the animations.
XI, MMORPG so automatic dislike.
XII, HATED IT! World was fine and the visuals stunnign for a PS2 game but the battle system sucks.
XIII, not gonna play it after all the bad responses from Sankaku Complex.
XIV, MMORPG, automatic dislike.

Now to get back on-topic, I love the Black Mages; taking Final Fantasy songs and turning them into hard rock/metal songs. They should really do mroe live performances...

you gotta try IV, V, and VI. They're the absolute best. Down to earth RPG's and they're addicting as hell. VI in particular is my absolute favourite, I've beaten it at least 3 times.

Getting into it? I'd say VI for an overall good game, non linear, many options, many secrets.

Good story, looking for something to draw you in? VII is where it's at.

Something a little more complex but not too over the top? IX is your friend.

Old school turn based + equipment? IV is the one you're looking for.
