Favorite Video Game music!

Over the years video games have made us enjoy ourselves, helped us forget about out problems and kept his busy when we should had learned for that one important test. One of the most important things in video games is th story, but since I am posting this in the Music section and not the story section, lets talk video game music.

In this thread, post your favorite video game music along with the reason you like it


As a child I played this game everyday on Ye Ol' Amiga 500. The introtune has never left my head and well, you can understand why


Another great Amiga 500 game, the intro from Cannon Fodder, one of the greatest games to date!


More Cannon Fodder, this song is played during recrutement but also after every mission. If you lost a soldier his name will slowely scroll up the screen with this song playing. I remember myself crying when that happened because they made it so dramatically. RIP JOOLS!


One of the best songs in the Half-Life series. Antlions everywhere and you have to defend a dying Alyx from them.


How you not like Mother 2/Earthbound music?


This FF song makes me long for a RPG that only uses hard rock/metal music but without the whole hard rock stereotype.

Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Portal, Jak and Daxter, Jak II and Jak 3.

Futuristic, techno-esque music that really gives off the feel of the game is the best type of video game music; and out of those games, Half-Life 2 does it the best. I fucking love entering and leaving Ravenholm because the music is so cool.

Shadow of the Colossus's soundtrack is amazing. All the songs are memorable and add to the presentation of the game so much.

Can't forget Zelda OoT and Majora's Mask.

Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VII. Chrono Trigger.

Amazing stuff. The music alone makes those games amazing.

It's only good because it's what we grew up with. The music sucks but has a very special place in a lot of our hearts.

Though because I feel likewise Greezy, I'll go ahead and throw out original Tetris' music and N64's Goldeneye.

Are you keeding me? I actually love that music. The opening theme to Final Fantasy IV still gives me the chills. Chrono Trigger's music gets me pumped, and FF VII, I just can't get enough of Aeris's theme or One Winged Angel.

Chrono Trigger's music was decent, not anything special. I never felt much for FFVII as well, not even the music. FFVI on the other hand has some great works (LOVE Dancing Mad and I only start playing this game last week).

HOW COULD I FORGET! Crash Bandicoot 2, that game has some great music that fits the themes perfectly.

Also, the only games I posted I grew up with are Cannon Fodder, Silkworm and Crash Bandicoot. I grew up with an Amiga 500 (best thing ever!) and a PS1. I didn't gained acces to a NES/SNES untill I was 13 or 14 when we got a PC which could handle SNES emulation decently.

VI is my favourite FF! And yeah I probably should have included that. Love it's music too.

The Spyro soundtrack is considered the best video game soundtrack. It was written by Stewart Copeland (the drummer for The Police).

To be complety hounset with you, I don't even recall the Spyro games having any music and I played them as much as Crash Bandicoot (aka daily).
