New Forum (info + status thread)

Info:
As some of you may have noticed the admin staff is getting tired from the limitations that our current forum host (Forumotion) applies. Because of this we are planning to move the Pulp Forums away from Forumotion to one of our own servers. By doing so we are able to do whatever we want with the forums ranging from simple things like multiple skins to nifty plugins that display your steam status on the forums.
Now there are some minor problems like how Forumotion does not allow us to export the database (thus all messages) and how we need to 'remake' the forums on the new host. However we have a crew working on it consisting of Eraserhead, Nick, Jameless and yours truly as we speak.

Of course with a move and redesign like this there will be a lot of debugging/changes going on, therefor we have decided to not give the link to anyone until we have finished setting the new forum up. However feel free to make suggestions for new features or other improvements you find necessary. Please note that our top priority is getting the forums up and running.

Basic to do list:
-Create the (sub) forums.
-Create usergroups, set permissions to all according to these.
-Copypasta all important topics such as the rules.
-Set temporary skin.
-Make the forumotion forum an archive (lock all forums).
-Redirect forum.pulpfortress.com to the new host.
-Install plugins/add-ons that we find necessary .
-Create our own theme/skin (hardest part).

Update:
We are halfway there already, but as I said the hardest tasks remain. We also now have a clear deadline/launch date; 9/22. Why 9/22? Because that's Pulp Fortress' birthday!

Also, if there is anyone here with proper PHPBB skinning experience and willing to help, please report in this thread. Our current team isn't all that well known in the whole skinning department...

The forum is currently being remade onto a new server (property of Eraserhead) and we will use the same url as our current forum (forum.pulpfortress.com). However like I stated in my first post we will not give the wip link to anyone who is not involved because we want to share a fully functional forum instead of a broken one.

As for the looks there is little to tell. We have spend our time today on getting the forum to run and filled with the basics properly. We will have a chat or perhaps a forum topic later on about what kind of skin (or skins) the community desires. Please note again that we haven't discussed this properly.

Now enough with the official dev talk, I am starting to feel like I am on the Black Mesa dev team...

I have decided to go with the following add-ons for phpbb:
-SteamProfile; shows your steam status on the forum below your avatar.
-CFUE (Country Flag User Edition); allows users to select their country's flag which will be displayed on their profile.
-Donations; shows how much money a person has donated. Nice feature and allows us donators to brag a little more
-Favicon; phpbb doesn't come with a favicon function by default so yeah...
-mChat; a simple shoutbox because I want t give this idea a third try.
-Share Topic; allows users to share a topic on Facebook, Twitter and other social sites. Easy way to get more visitors.
-Topic Preview; when you hover the mouse over a topic title it previews it for a bit. Usefull for finding that one old topic...
-Profile links; Twitter, YouTube, Facebook links for on your profile.
-Video embedding; Allows embedding video's from almost every popular site just by using the page url.

I made progress with the skinning;
-The darker theme is as good as done. All there is left to do for it are some new images to indicate new posts sticky's etc.
-Super special awesome secret skin is finished.

So now all there is left to skinning wise is making a few images and a brighter skin =D
