Ideas for Scripts? Empty Ideas for Scripts?

Post by Firestar 7/2/2010, 23:18

Okay, just replaced my terrible, small, wireless (AKA BATTERY RAPING) mouse with an awesome new one. And it has the two buttons on the side! Razz Any ideas for what I should script to those keys?

I have this:
MOUSE1: primairy fire
MOUSE2: secondary fire
MOUSE3: say RTD
MOUSE4: SPY!
MOUSE5: Voicetalk
SCROLLLEFT: Thanks
SCROLLRIGHT: Help!

In case the source engine doesn't find some keys (such as scroll left/right) you can use a program called X Mouse Button Control. It is free, works with any windows (including 64-bit) and is availeble here: http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/XMouseButtonControl.htm

"Say RTD"? ...that's it? No, my friend, we need something more GLORIOUS!
Code:
alias "+rtd" "say rtd; rtd_test; alias test_result rtd_test=negative; wait 2; test_result"; alias "rtd_test" "wait; alias test_result rtd_test=positive"; alias "rtd_test=positive" "alias rtd_ref rollthedice; wait 100; rtd_ref"; alias "rtd_test=negative" "echo '+RTD' script failed. 'Wait' command is disabled on the current server."; alias "-rtd" "wait 2; alias rtd_ref"; alias "rollthedice" "say rollthedice; wait 100; rtd_ref"; bind "mouse3" "+rtd"
You press MOUSE3 to roll the dice, or you can hold it to count down. No more button-mashing while you wait for RTD! In addition, you can type +RTD into the console if you want a more unpredictable gaming experience.

I personally put it in its own CFG file and then type a command to execute it...
You're probably better off just putting it into your "autoexec.cfg". It's located at
"C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\[account_name]\team fortress 2\tf\cfg".

While you're at it, I would advise adding this line to "autoexec.cfg" as well:
Code:
cl_burninggibs "1"; cl_timeout "60"; con_enable "1"; bind "f5" "jpeg"; jpeg_quality "100"
Those commands enable burning gibs, extend the time before your client times out, enable the console, and rebind your screenshot key to take ".jpg"s instead of ".tga"s.

You may also want to take a look at this.

...perhaps I should just upload my CFG folder to my SkyDrive... o_O

Oh, I never mentioned that anywhere. Open the file with notepad or wordpad or whatever.
