Your trying to get it popular. Thats great!

to populate a rotation server tho, you gotta start with the basic, core maps. Gold Rush, Dustbown, 2 Fort, etc.

Custom maps rock and shit but dont put them there yet. I know that at least when I play*ed* tf2, I looked by map name. I sorted it that way and found the map I wanted with the number of people I wanted. I sometimes went by players. But I didnt go to maps I didnt know.

My point here is that I love custom maps but I also know 90% of them suck and I wont try them unless im already on the server when it switches.

So you wanna populate the server, I suggest you go without custom maps and then insert them one at a time once the server has a decent number of people.

Pulp is at its core an orange clan. You cannot count on a large portion of the clan frequenting a rotation server. It may happen, but dont count on it. You need fresh meat for this server and this is how I think it should be done.

Yes i was thinking about that too. I noticed people leave the server when a custom map has to be downloaded. We can revert to the stockmaps for now and add one each time to the mapcycle.

Yes please.

I think this goes back to what I was referring to when I mentioned Cashworks. I enjoy the map but the server almost always empties when it comes on.

I think we should only have the most popular valve maps on the server such as badlands granary and maybe some others, this way lots of people will come because people like these maps more than most

koth maps, double cross, sawmill, and steel, well. those are a few for me i guess and i like well but same reason as the one above me is why it shouldnt be on here.

People really like Doublecross, Badwater, Turbine and Goldrush. We could go by your list, but those four need to be reinstated.

LEAVE OUT 2FORT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

There are a billion 24/7 2fort servers, and you would be surprised at the number of players who hate that map. Personally, I am quite tired of 2fort, and I think it should be left out in the final rotation.

13 maps. I like this list. KOTH doesn't tend to work well for long periods of time.

As for changing to custom maps on a server, or just changing the map in general, I ask the people (experiences from CGMZ). I personally hate the whole deal of the server changing maps after X rounds, etc. I like to ask the players if they want to change maps, and get some suggestions. I then will throw up a vote, or be bias and pick my favorite map. I also tell and make sure the people know that they are going to a custom map that may take a while to download. The result of this, is usually 95%-100% of the players come through to continue playing.

I found the trains on Freight to be rather lulzy, but I suppose they could get annoying...

But it's not a control-point map. If you find a cp_2fort it might be worth adding.

I'm going to revive this thread again because we are discussing the rotation server again.

I have stated in another topic:
-we have mapratings. Simple fact when looking at the results of maps that got at least 50 votes is that Hightower, Badwater, Coldfront, Turbine, Granary, Upward, Gravelpit, Thundermountain, Badlands, Gorge, Goldrush, Nucleus, Egypt and Freight are the most popular maps on our rotation server so far (in this order).

I think we should try out these maps more to get a proper rating of them:

ctf_sawmill, koth_sawmill, koth_viaduct, cp_steel, pl_hoodoo_final, cp_yukon_final, cp_fastlane, ctf_well

These are all stockmaps and have been played on a very little on our server. If we play on the rotation server try to keep these maps in mind when you type 'nominate' in chat or change the map.
