I can't wait until the Soldier update. Unlike Gibbo, he's a Sniper fag, he'll mostly want the Sniper Update more!

Joking Gibbo. <3 Love ya, buddy!

I really can't wait to see what they do with the spy and scout, luckily my two favorite classes got in. Razz

But they'll probably just do something gay like added damage, no random crits or something.

The new Spy Knife is what I am looking out for most. I'm really hoping for something like bleeding which would be perfect if it doesn't register a backstab like it should or as a last resort when a Pyro is on to you. Negative effect could be less melee damage (because of bleeding) or no crits.

First mini-crits for some weapons now bleeding? What's next...

The regular spy knife doesn't crit anyway. I'd like to see a critting knife with at least 30% crit chance and also does 20% extra dmg. A bleeding effect of 4 dmg lasting 4 seconds would be cool too.
As a downside it shouldn't instantly kill when you backstab someone, perhaps 100-150dmg. On the upside of the downside the backstab should give a very strong bleeding effect (8-10dmg, 4-6 sec bleed).
+ Another downside would be 10-15 less hp?

Poisoned Blade:

Backstabs do straight 100 damage.
Frontstabs do standard damage.

When the person is slashed, they are poisoned for 10 seconds. Poison works similarily to bleed. Your screen flashes purple, and you take damage with the same base rate. However, you take 50% less for standing still (aka resting) and 150% for moving (exerting yourself). Poison goes away the instant a medic starts healing you or when you touch a health pack.

Looks like a jagged medieval dagger with drops of purple at the end.

Backstab without instant kill? GTFO! When my knife goes in the back of some heavy punk he should die instantly, not be able to turn around, kill me, rape my body, smoke all my cigarettes and turn my corpse around for another go WHILE being pocketed by a medic (aka poison does nothing).

What I want with the new knife is that it gets more involved in face to face combat. Increasing dmg and adding a high crit rate makes it a better weapon to fight with when you're fighting in a tight situation where you can hardly escape. Besides, most people won't even notice they got backstabbed lol. If they do, you can hit them again and kill them in 0.8 secs with your new high dmg dealing knife. You can also leave them with the poison/bleed effect and let them die after you cloak and fade away.

Giving it a second thought; 1 hit poisons your enemy, 3 hits let them bleed. This way you'll know for sure that they'll die after 3 hits.

I am a tad upset at the sunglasses to me they don't seem like a spy thing. The fish makes no sense but other than that let the updates fly!

It's a direct reference to Austin Powers. Watch this video, then take another look at the concept art for the fez.

The fish in a newspaper is symbolic. As I typed the words "fish wrapped in newspaper" at the beginning of yet another "fucking fish" rant, I realized the deadly serious implications of this oh-so-whimsical weapon.

If you have seen the movie or read the book 'The Godfather' by Mario Puzo you will know what it means; it is explained that it's an old Sicilian message hinting that a person has been assassinated. The message is delivered as a fish (wrapped in paper) to the enemy, and it relates to the way the assassins hide the body of their victim by weighing it down and dumping it in the river. "Sleeping with the fishes", if you will.
On the Wikipedia page for 'Irish Mob', the very first thing it mentions is Boston's "well-chronicled history of Irish mob activity"... it's not impossible that Scout was a runner for the Mob. It certainly would explain a lot.

Oh and i associated the fish with one of my favorite Monty Python scenes of fish slapping.

I think it would be cool if the new knife could do a poisoned backstab and a crit facestab. Both would not kill you instantly but the spy could finish you of with his pistol.

Lord Zurkov thank you for clearing up the Spy hat combo question with a forgotten yet funny clip and the problem of the fish. The fact still remains that unless the news paper fish has a purely magnificent effect I doubt the weapon will have any real use.

*shrug* It's just a bat replacement. The fact that if looks like a fish and has jigglebones doesn't change that. They thought of a viable bat alternative before, I'm sure they can do it again.
