Application to be a clan member Empty Application to be a clan member

Post by Lord Zurkov 10/1/2010, 03:51

As I'm sure you could guess, my screenname is "Lord Zurkov".
I was a regular on the IKtR server until it went down, and I'm quite fond of your server (it's got a well-placed skill level)... I've read pretty much all the posts on this forum (you guys must not have had it up for long because it only took me a little while)... and I see no reason not to apply.
So... here goes.

Write your application in this forum. Consider it done.

Tell us a bit about yourself. I have a bio on my profile on FPSBanana. I always direct people to that when they ask about me, so...

We would like to know what your experience level is, how long have you been playing TF2? I've been an avid gamer since I was seven, and I've been playing TF2 since the beta.

What are your favorite classes? They're all good. The only class I don't particularly like is the Sniper.

Have you been in other clans? A couple, but only local ones. Specifically, "the League of Elite Fraggers" and "The Lan Life". Never heard of them? Didn't think so.

What will be your addition to our clan? Whether I get accepted or not I intend to read and optionally respond to any new posts on this forum, and I have enough spare time that I can participate in-game with most events that you guys could hold.

Welcom Lord Zurkov! Where does this name come from?

I guess i have to get to know you first, i remember your name though. I'll be on in a couple of minutes, wanna dance?

Oh Lordie Lordie!!

PS: Since you were in the pug yesterday i guess you will get some admin and member votes pretty fast.

PS2: Why did you leave LEF? In your fpsbanana profile it says you are still there.

PS3: Do you have experience with TF2 server configs?

I recently posted something explaining it on ubercharged.net's forum.
Allow myself to quote... myself.
Lord Zurkov wrote:"Zurkov" (as I came up with it) actually does have a sort of meaning to it.

It comes from the German word "Zurückkauft" meaning "redeem" (although it doesn't carry the connotation that I originally intended).
Players had a lot of trouble pronouncing it, so I corrupted it to "Zurkauft" and later to "Zurkov".
I still miss the diacritic mark...

As a bonus, I stylized a symbol of the name (as seen in my usual avatar) which I think came out quite well.
I find it very useful for my personalized avatars — no borrowed/stolen/cannibalized avatars for me! ^_^

Eraserhead wrote:PS2: Why did you leave LEF? In your fpsbanana profile it says you are still there.
I didn't leave it, it left me. The [LEF] kind of trailed off and died because it was mostly LAN-based and a lot of the members moved away. Not to mention that we didn't do very much recruiting (again, it's LAN-based... so recruitment-wise, you're limited to anyone who is close enough to attend a LAN party).
Eraserhead wrote:PS3: Do you have experience with TF2 server configs?
Recently I managed to forward my ports through two routers to get a listen server running, if that counts for anything.
I'm very fond of scripting so I'm familiar with a pretty decent variety of commands, but I don't believe I've done anything with a server config before.

You can now add the {PULP} tag and write some more about yourself if you want to in the introductions forum.

What do you mean by a listen server? What is the function of this server?

As opposed to a dedicated server. You can start a listen server for TF2 by clicking the "Create Server" button on the game's startup menu.

Anybody can start one, but you have to configure it, too, or else nobody will be able to join over the internet (it still works fine without configuration for yourself and people on your LAN, though).

Those those are three admin votes. Firstar just became an admin so it counts as admin. { i think} You have my vote but it is admin so there is no point. You need two member votes.

Panda voted with the wrong stamp so he has two admin votes and two member votes so you can now put {PULP} in your name Zurkov!

If you want to do someone a favor vote for dumpybear.
