Re: Sony Vegas 8.0 Hallp?
I have a lot of problems finding old topics back in the new forum categories. I just moved Adam's topic to the Tutorials section:
http://forum.pulpfortress.com/tutorials-f26/making-videos-like-the-pros-t566.htm
This may help you. Specific help on Vegas i will leave to others. Only worked with Premiere myself.

Play the demo via TF2 , record it with an illegally downloaded Fraps or another recording software then put it into Vegas. Go Google some tutorials if you want the effects and shit.

Google too clustered? Google must be the cleanest and most efficient search engine I have ever used. As long as you know the tricks there is no need for a different search engine. In fact not only I think so MS thinks so themselves considering how they ripped off the Google UI AND tricks completely.
Also, in 10 years time Google will be bigger than MS, prepare for Big Brother and his name is Google :3
On-topic; try out the tutorial on the forums. It comes with programs that can change/render the demo file to a normal video file. Windoes Movie Maker/Sony Vegas/Adobe Premier it and voila, a nice movie.

Actually. I found a better way to record other than adams. Record demo. Go to console. Open demo. Play demo. Go to part you want recorded. Open console.
Type startmovie [name] avi. This will record it directly to an avi file. Then open that avi file into format factory. Convert it to .avi. Do it again because tf2 avi is different than normal avi. Normal avi takes less space and isnt as laggy. Then dew stuff wif it

TF2 avi...
Normal avi...
I don't even know what a codec is!
Seriously, use one when recording. TF2 asked me to pick one before recording and my file is decent sized. Also due to limitations tf2 crashes when this is done in fullscreen. No wonder it is still experimental...

Re: Sony Vegas 8.0 Hallp?
startmovie name avi is for an avi file.
startmovie name is for tga images for every frame and a wav file which you can combine to a movie file with a program on the valve dev wiki.

Use a proper codec and remind that the whole source avi thing is still in the making.

Re: Sony Vegas 8.0 Hallp?
Source recording has been around for a long time yes, but not recording directly to an avi. Also they will update it somewhere between now and HL2E3 (aka no idea).
