Help? (computer stuff) Empty Help? (computer stuff)

Post by Tendo 13/1/2010, 16:52

Well, me and my computer generally fight over things, but this time she's gone too far. Every time i turn on my computer, it switches to black and white. I looked and toyed with the video and color management, though nothing changed. I also switched my monitors around to see if it would reset them. Nothing is working Evil or Very Mad
It is making me angry, and makes me want to quit the computer all together.

Any idea's how to fix?

(P.S, I am going to get it cleaned soon, and switch to Windows 7)
(P.S.S I have a Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT)

At any point as it's booting does it show color? When you switched monitors did you use the same cable for both?

Computers, they get beaten more often then a person in it's entire life...
Seriously, we hit our mouse, keyboard and desktop A LOT!

Anyway, when did it started to go all 60's on you (black and white)?
Did you perhaps installen new hardware or updated any drivers?
Also, which OS are you using at the moment and from what point does this occure?

Best thing I can come up are these:
Check your cables or change them when possible (also, use HDMI if you can. SO much better)
Check your monitor settings, perhaps someone has put it on black and white for a prank.
Check both Windows' and NVIDIA's configuration screen. You can choose colors and even black and white mode there.
Update your drivers, always a good thing to do.

It shows color from the auto-login, to the finish totally loading

I think the reinstalling drivers is a good idea too

Agreed. If you have color during boot but not while in windows then it is probably a driver issue.

Are you cheating on her? I know some girls that do that, you cheat on them, and they get you back. It's the same with computers.

Got fixed fter a short IM session on steam. Turned out that the NVIDIA control panel had turned Digital Vibrance down to 0 (equals hardly any color).
