This thing is ridiculously fast. I suggest everyone give it a chance.

Re: Chrome Beta 6
Will do, of course I will also compare it to the latest public Firefox beta build which is also very very very fast. But first I need to finish the last episode of Dexter season 4

Re: Chrome Beta 6
Like I said, I will compare Chrome and the Firefox beta and well, here are the results:
Specs (that matter):
OS: Windows 7 64bit
CPU: Intel Dual Core2 @2.0ghz
RAM: 4GB DDR2
Internet connection: 7.14 mbit/s over WiFi (4/5 bars).
Firefox 4.0b3
Starts within: less than half a second
Loads pulpfortress.com in: 1.5 seconds
Resources used:
One tab: 83.068K
Five tabs: 101.552K
Add-ons: Too much to count.
Chrome 6.0.490.1
Starts within: less than half a second
Loads pulpfortress.com in: 2 seconds
Resources used:
One tab (total from multiple processes): 30,444K
Five tabs (total from multiple processes): 98,367K
Add-ons: +1000~ish and rising.
And for the lulz…
IE 8
Starts within: 2 seconds
Loads pulpfortress.com in: 5 seconds
Resources used:
One tab: 34,778K
Five tabs: 113,364
Add-ons: 0 unless you count malware toolbars, in that case +99,999.
Conclusion:
Both the Chrome and Firefox beta are brilliant pieces of software. They start instantly and browse bloody fast. Chrome however uses less resources but the difference between them is so small it can be ignored, especially in these +2GB ram days. Now, IE on the other hand starts slow, loads slow and comes with so many problems that you shouldn't use it to begin with but that's common knowledge these days...
Screw-ups:
I didn't turned off the extensions in Firefox but hey, it gives you a more realistic picture since every Firefox user has them.

Re: Chrome Beta 6
are you saying it used half the resources or four times the resources?

Re: Chrome Beta 6
Well with just one one tab open Chrome uses less resources than Firefox. However the moment you have opened 5 tabs (all pulpfortress.com in this test) both Chrome and Firefox use almost the same amount of resources.
also, Adblock has been updated so now it works with the Firefox beta. Guess I'll be using it as my default browser from now on =D

Re: Chrome Beta 6
I must say it is tempting to switch to Chrome but as long as it doesn't have the add-ons I use (or similiar once's of course) I will stick with FF. Also, cant wait to try out Chrome OS when there is a Public Beta or a release candidate out =D

I'm all about being an impatient douchebag.

Adblock blocks ads that can be really important for really small websites that need this money to keep paying their website.
Epps, I am dissapoint.

I am not, I hate those flashy ads that draw all the attention to them, not too mention those ads you NEED to click away befroe you can see the content.Nicobbq wrote:Adblock blocks ads that can be really important for really small websites that need this money to keep paying their website.

Firefox is getting quite annoying. Could someone tell me why Firefox keeps crashing?
And I still like Firefox.

Allow me to answer that question even tho I don't have any background info on your rig. Okay there are a few things that come up right away;Furgus wrote:Firefox is getting quite annoying. Could someone tell me why Firefox keeps crashing?
And I still like Firefox.
-Your PC is shit and should be turned into a BBQ.
-You are running too much add-ons/plugins at once. Try removing those you don't use.
-Your custom skin is poorly coded and is causing errors.
-Java is causing FF to lag because it needs to start (happens often on older PC's/OS's).
-You never updated it to 3.6.
Anyway try getting rid of unnecessary add-ons like useless toolbars and features you don't use. If that doesn't work try re-installing Firefox or just upgrade to the latest beta which is very stable and fast.
As for me I don't remember a Firefox during the past few months and I am 100% sure that the beta never crashed on me.
