Where is my BBQ?

Hey guys, I moved into a student appartment this weekend for university that starts tommorow.
There is just one little problem...the internet here is free! Yay ! They block all steam servers....WUT!??!

That means I can't even connect to freakin' steam!!
That means no TF2 with you guys :-(

I'll be able to play TF2 on weekends when i'll have spare time but on weekdays i won't be able to play unless someone finds a way of getting steam to work.

It always say im not connected to the internet even thought I am!

It sucks ass but it's probably a good thing for my grades.

Aww, that's too bad. You can still play in offline mode, right? I know this means no MP games, but SP games should work just fine.

That's the weirdest part...Offline mode doesn't even work...this pisses me off cause I just bought Worms Reloaded for a frickin reason !!

You can probably talk to the techies and claim you need those ports open for contacting friends and they'll allow it.

Ok, So I got steam to work when im on my school network using the wireless. So I can download updates, connect to steam and talk with you guys. But I won't do it much. However, since all my updates are working again, I finally updated TF2 and now I can play perfectly on weekends.
So that's it!

Look into port forwarding/opening ports. There's a good chance there's a way around it, depending on how suave your IT department is. hale...go to their desk/offices and ask the nerdiest looking one if he can hook you up.

Naa. I live in a appartment with free Wi-Fi internet. It's like a hotspot of some sort and it sucks bad.

And hmm, I'm from Canada, not the same system as USA so i have no idea what is freshman year and such.

I read the new applicant post and he said he was freshman at 18 years old in a university. I guess that's why you made the comment about me being 20 years old. Well, I guess we study more bullcrap in Canada than in usa since we have 2 more years before university (not fair).

yeah. In Quebec they have a longer educational system I think, can't remember. my first year of University will be when I am 17 ^^

Anyway if they blocked the ports in their router maybe if you hook up with a techie like Greezy said they can make an exception. Otherwise stop using their free internet and buy your own you cheap BBQ!
