Turn the site into a wiki?

As we all know I am a lazy fuck when it comes to editing the website. Why? Because I don't have any experience wih being a webmaster and everything. I hate to use all those HTML codes by heart and WYSIWYG is plain old crap. I have been editing wiki's for the past three years by now and I prefer it over a full html site anyday. You can do everything with it and if you can't you can just use html. This is why I am thinking about changing the site into a wiki that can only be edited by clanmembers.

Good things
-The site is easy to update on any PC around the world.
-We can make the site editible for all clanmembers, only admins or even only a few selected people. Admins can even decide that some pages still aren't able to be edited by clanmembers.
-Wikicode is really easy to learn. The basics will only take 5 minutes to learn in most cases.
-Scrimteams could get their own pages about their teams, the members and tactics.
-Pages can be protected so they arent vieweble for outsiders. This way information can stay save from others.
-Templates, they spare me so much time!

Bad things
-I'm unsure how heavy a wiki is to run on a server. A +2000 pages wiki can use a lot of CPU and bandwidth from a server although a small wiki (<100 pages) shouldn't give a server too much trouble.
-Not that many clans use a wiki so that would make us special. However, the interface can be changed to resemble most popular clan site formats (is that a word?).

Anyway I can go on and on about this what I would like to know how others think of this and mostly if this is possible to do. Installing a wiki is as easy as baking a cake which is something even I can do as long as I have the proper information about our server.

Also, if this idea seems to be doomed I would like someone else to take over from me if possible. I'm just not made to maintain a website like ours.

It's a ood idea but when a member come onand see it's wiki they will be poke WTF this is nt professional at all a clan forum is used as HTML but kimmo that's jus my way of this.....

The thing with wiki's is that they dont have to like like one. Besides, the forum would just remain the way it is.

Is maintaining the website really that much work? The only thing that takes work what i see now is the member section right? The rest is just a fancy portal with some links and for myself i go to either the forum or the rankings page and soon the achievements page.

So maybe we should remove the memberpage or let someone else make one that is more adminfriendly. Maybe Nico can do something.

Also can you give us some links to wiki's that you think are good example? Most wiki's i've seen look boring (like you said it would need to look like a clanwiki) and also with a lot of wiki's there are broken links and outdated sections and the structure isn't always that clear.

Well my main problem is indeed the members page. I also don't really have the idea that I am capable of making a site the clan deserves due to my lack of general html knowledge. A lot of the things I did so far where pure experiments...

Well i think we should just hook you up with someone who can help you out. Nico has extensive programming knowledge as far as i know so we can give him FTP access and maybe there other clanmembers as well who can help out. Maybe Tendo or Panda.

That would be nice since I kinda had it with the site. My idea was that it wouldn't be long until someone could take my position.
