Brilliant letter.
PS: I lost the Ambassador while crafting and i'm still waiting to get it back.
Re: I decided it's time to email Valve
This is why I haven't crafted anything yet.

Haha, brilliant letter. The crafting system seems so... useless. It's not really an easier way to get items because you STILL NEED TO WAIT FOR THEM TO GENERATE! So yea, needless to say I have only do a little crafting.
Re: I decided it's time to email Valve
Crafting is pointless. It would take a lot of weapons to make just one freaking hat. No, I'd rather have a trading system then a craft system.
Re: I decided it's time to email Valve
Nice letter!
I think they should take out crafting (and random drops) and make EVERYTHING a reward. Say, 500 hours as Scout? Hat. Maybe, a total of 10,000,000 accumulated points as Pyro? Hat.
Not a god damn random drop, then craft system, because that just makes people idle!

The idea of making hats rewards instead of random would simply make people grind instead of idle.Firestar wrote:Nice letter!

It sounds good in theory, but it doesn't help much in practice. I still think that a trading system would fix the drop system (although it would probably drag along a lot of problems from MMOs, specifically real-world trading).

well, it almost is an mmo...
and grinding is better than idling, at least they're playing!

500 hours as scout. Hat? Wouldn't that make you idle more to get 500 hours as scout.
Besides, what's wrong with idling?

I especially like all those camera beards, my little collection.
Oh and if you don't want to accidentally craft your currently equipped items, just organize your backpack like mine. Keep all the uncraftables/untouchables on the second page.

Well when you don't know which ones are equipped in the first place...
And I cant think of two things wrong with idling: 1. It makes me think you're playing TF2, until I hit view server info, and then I become sad.
2. It racks up hours as classes you haven't actually been playing...

Well you can find the ones that you are equipped with, with the tiny little red letters that say "Equipped" in your backpack. Then just put them on the second page.
Nothing wrong with idling
1. I'm sorry.
2. I spectate so the class hours don't add up.

The first few days they started crafting they didn't have the equipped posted on the items. Take a look at the updates that came out so you can see it was a patch to fix it to show it was equipped.

Then there should be no problems then! Everyone should be happy. Valve made it so that people won't make the same mistakes twice. Everyone give valve a round of applause. Whooo hoooooooo!!

It works extremely well for crafting.
That being said, you can still idle in spectator on an idle server or if the server thinks you're doing something. Scripts are handy for that -- I type "+taunt" in my console whenever I idle in spectate on the Pulp server (the server doesn't usually fill up, so nobody is inconvenienced).[/offtopic]
I prefer my setup. First-half/first-page is expendables, second-half/first-page is craftables, first-half/second-page is unusual items (hats, event items, misc items), second-half/second-page is untouchables (the gaps are from where I accidentally crafted the item before this setup - otherwise, the unlocks make a perfect square).Taboo wrote:Oh and if you don't want to accidentally craft your currently equipped items, just organize your backpack like mine. They changed the system so it will kick AFK spectators. It didn't used to.miht wrote:You could spectate? didn;t they take that out? o:
