Soldier/Demo Update is LIVE!
Valve has officially released the update! The Soldier won the war, and got boots that let you rocket jump without taking much damage. They also released two new maps: cp_gorge and ctf_doublecross! Now what are you waiting for?! Go out and get the update! (Unless the servers are too busy...)

LOL! I was playing on the server when the update came out. The game crashed for everyone and then we couldn't log on. After a couple of minutes i saw the update coming in and now i am still waiting at 36% dammit while the server is filled with 24 players right now harvesting achievements. I really hate my 128 kbps connection grrrrrr
The server crashed while it was full of people, this happened last weekend too. The people at Gameservers.com advised to upgrade sourcemod but i haven't gotten the chance to do that.
PS: I hear there are already walking some people over there with swords and pickaxes

I, in fact, am one of those people waving a sword around. *proud stance*
SPOILER ALERT!!!
This is about the Eyelander.
Overall Appearance: Looks incredible from first person, an awesome world model as well.
Attack: Might want to cover the kids' eyes with this one. When killing someone, their head literally flies off their shoulders. Large amounts of blood come out of the head and neck, and as they fall, a splattering sound effect is heard. Probably the most blood I have ever seen in TF2. And I like it.
Taunt Kill: Yes. Looks a lot like the sniper's; he twirls the sword behind him, but then swings it really fast from right to left, leaned forward. Then stands up, and runs his fingers along the blade as if to clean off the blood. When you hit someone with the swing, they adopt the 'stunned' stance, and their head flies off while the enemy drops to their knees, then falls over.
Other stuff: After killing someone with it, you become healthier and faster. After killing 4 enemies, it maxes out. You can still kill enemies with it, you just won't get any more buff. When fully ...charged, I guess, your eye glows orange (at least on the RED team) and you look extremely badass, and you can run at about the speed of a scout, give or take.
Well, I'm sorry if you didn't see the warning and was spoiled. I'll try to make up for it.

Sound good , but how many achievements you have to collect to onlock the sword ?

Well, the milestones are incredibly easy.
First Milestone: 6 Achieves
Second: 11 Achieves
Third: 16 Achieves
And I'm at the 2nd milestone; I didn't unlock the sword until I joined a server that had a working inv, so I don't know when you get it.

You get the weapons randomly. I have all the achievments and I have exactly no weapons. Hopefully i ll get some tommorrow in the morining when people are sleeping.

Yeah, I just saw the post on the TF2 Blog. They're apparently going to give the people that didn't get the weapons, the weapons. So I'm just ECSTATIC

Did you get them at the same time? That would mean they already implemented the update. I'm missing the targe. I think the SR sucks but maybe i just have to discover the tactics for that weapon.

Yeah, I got them at the same time. Maybe you just found the SR, and later you'll get it and the Targe.

yeah I got my weapons when I entered the server at the same. THe direct hit, sword, equalizer and the boots.

i dont know when I entered the server in the chat box it said "Dark Soil has acheived the boots, direct hi blablablablabla.

Here a list of changes they made yesterday:
Updates to Team Fortress 2 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:
Team Fortress 2
Fixed inconsistent Rage generation with the Buff Banner
Added an "equipped" tag to currently equipped items in the Backpack and Crafting screens
Fixed the TFBots not reacting correctly to stun effects
Fixed the Heavy picking up his own thrown sandvich if it was thrown while running forward
Fixed Pyros not getting the proper kill icon for kills with deflected Direct Hit rockets
Fixed the player keeping their rage setting when the Buff Banner isn't equipped
Fixed resupply cabinet not clearing the rage and the buff status effect
Fixed the Buff Banner not working when +reload has been forced in console
Fixed the motion blur on charging Demomen not always drawing
Fixed the Direct Hit mini-critting enemies submerged in water
Fixed the Chargin' Targe's crit not working on servers with tf_weapon_criticals 0
Capped the amount of overhealing from taking heads to the player's max buffed health
Updated the Gunboats to absorb damage from any self-inflicted rocket blast that doesn't hurt another player
Updated the Scottish Resistance to detonate bombs near the player's feet (in addition to what it normally detonates). This enables sticky jumping with this weapon
Updated the Baseball and Jarate HUD indicators to stay on screen when full
Crafting improvements
Spy's camera beard can now be smelted into scrap metal
Recipes can no longer produce items matching any of the items used in the crafting
Added some new recipes
Achievement fixes
Fixed the "Ride of the Valkartie" Soldier achievement being earned by Soldiers on the defending team
Fixed the "Gorky Parked" Heavy achievement being incremented by committing suicide on a control point
Fixed several Scout achievements that were broken by the new type of bat stun
Fixed the "Ghastly Gibus Grab" achievement not awarding the hat correctly
Updated the "Big Pharma" (Medic) and "Division of Labor" (Heavy) achievements to be 10 kills in a single life
Updated the "Ubi concordia, ibi victoria" Medic achievement to only be 3 assists
