So, who here plays any instrument?
I play the Drums, Guitar, and Bass.
I've played drums for 4.5 years now, and guitar/bass for a year. I don't own a bass, but I can play one if I was handed one.
My drumset is a crummy Ludwig, it's their entry level set, around $200.
My guitar is an Epiphone SG G-400 1966 classic reissue, very similar to Greezy's. However, mine is broken right now, hopefully I can get it fixed soon. I can't last very long without the screaming bends of my SG on 10 through my Blackheart tube amplifier. That thing screams, all it needs is a new bridge pickup.
Either that, or I save $700 for a Gibson SG special. Yes Greezy, it exists. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Proof, my friend. Sure you'd have to order it and shipping wouldn't be friendly to Canada, but still, it's about $500 cheaper than the Standard, I believe.
Anyways, anyone else play any instruments? Not instruments of death, those aren't fun. Unless your psychotic.

Re: So, who here plays any instrument?
I don't play an instrument but some years ago i used to make tekno music and me and friend made a limited edition vinyl record (500 of them) that was meant to be used by DJ's in the underground dance scene.
Re: So, who here plays any instrument?
Haha, I find that to be both cool and hilarious eraserhead...
I play piano (and used to play French Horn). I've actually recorded my own music and maybe I'll post it on here for you guys. Anyone else wanna do the same, Hyce?

Re: So, who here plays any instrument?
Let's see, 4 years ago my mom got me a cheap acoustic guitar because I wanted to play guitar. Problem was that the neck was too thick for my short fingers and we didn't had any money to afford lessons. I mostly learned songs by myself (long live tabs) but I noticed that I prefered playing bass lines. Since bass lines sound like crap on a low tuned guitar I lost interest and was tempted to smash it and hang it on my wall which I never did.
3 years later, aka last september I recieved an extra €400 which I used to buy a Squier starter kit (so shoot me..). It came with a black Squier J-Bass, a Fender 15 watt amp, belt, cable and a very shitty tuner. Inmediatly bought a guitar stand and a Korg Tuner (one that can be plugged straight into the guitar or bass). One week later I got myself a fresh set of strings, Rotosound Swing 66 since those were used by the bands I wanted to play (hurray for 60's and 70's bands!). Played on it every day for one or 2 hours, fingers hurted since they were soft as hell (lol) but it was worth it.
Then in November I got a overdive pedal from GLX (Bose's version of Squier ) so I could make some real noise. Kept playing on it untill things went bad in my personal life. Completely lost interest in it and stopped playing for a while. These days I pick it up to do some quick lines or to learn some songs I really want to be able to play, like the Giygas Battle Theme from EarthBound.
Anyway, that's about it. Dinner is ready so I;m off.

Re: So, who here plays any instrument?
Well me and Hyce play the same guitar basically, but mines not a vintage reissue, it's the SG 400 Custom, with three humbucker pickups.
I also play bass, got a battle of the bands coming up. The bass is a piece of garbage. I just restrung it so it sounds nice, but I'm thinking of replacing the volume knobs, both pickups, adjusting the neck to lower the action, replacing the tuners, the input. Basically just gutting and making it new again, without paying as much.

Re: So, who here plays any instrument?
I'd love to post my music, but all I've got are crappy recordings of a song I wrote that didn't work out too well. (Low end recording program+layering myself over myself, 2 guitar tracks and a drum track+lag=inconsistent rhythm) Plus, as I told Greezy, both my Fender Crapcaster (it's worse than a squire, it retails for $80...) and my SG have broken input wiring. So, until I fix that, I cannot post any videos or recordings.
But once they are fixed, as the bad boys down under say....
LET THERE BE ROCK!

Crappy recording, I remember that! best thing I could come up with was this:hyce777 wrote:(...) (Low end recording program+layering myself over myself, 2 guitar tracks and a drum track+lag=inconsistent rhythm) (...)
- Code:
Amp
\/
6.35mm jack to 3.55mm jack in
\/
3.55mm jack splitter
\/ \/
jack-jack headphones
cable to
mic-in
\/
Audacity recording program
It turned out decent, as for overlaying I would put a metronome on a seperate layer (remove when exporting!) and record with the other layers playing.
Re: So, who here plays any instrument?
Well I play the Alto Sax. woot woot. I have been playing for almost 4 years now. I started with the clarinet, ugh and got a music scholarship in grade 6. But the scholarship fell through because the teacher mucked up getting me the right info. I play sax now, ever since that scholarship fell through. I mostly play Jazz, maybe some reggae if I feel like it. I have played for my schools jazz band, even had a solo. I want to learn Piano and Guitar, just too lazy too XD
Re: So, who here plays any instrument?
i am the most failure of a eprson in the world when it comes to music, in year 4 we had to have a band test to get in, all my friends say it was super easy, i got 13%..........

Addressing the whole "700 dollar Gibson"... Well okay you've proved it, but I'd like to point out. Single coil pickups...ew. I'd be replacing those soon, and that's money down the drain. Not to mention none of those have the savory delicious white cream colour of my SG-400 custom. Or the gold input!

Look closer, those are humbuckers. They do make a special with P90's, but its more expensive. The linked guitar has humbuckers and is $700.

I didn't lol. My brother gave it to me when he went to Korea. And he got it off craigslist.
I'll restore it and it will be nice once more.

Buying instruments online without having any way to testplay them... Glad that I buy all my gear in an actual store xDYoung Greezy wrote:Sgt Pepper wrote:lol, why did you buy a shitty bass to begin with?Young Greezy wrote:I also play bass, got a battle of the bands coming up.
