Duels: Guidelines and Schedule
PULP DUELS
As many (if not all) of you know, PULP has introduced a stricter application process for new members. This process includes at least a one month trial period, a required amount of votes, and, of course, 1 on 1 duels with new members. Huzzah!
Duels will only take place if your KDR is less than 1:1, provided you are not a medic main.
If you KDR is very close to 1:1 by the end of your trial period, you can take up to one week to try and raise it up, or you may choose to just have the duel right then.
So essentially, these duels consist of one approved member of Eraserhead's choice (or anyone else whom he wishes to have make this choice), versus the applicant. These duels will take place as close as possible to the last day of the trial period. These two will face off in a series of epic class battles. So we aren't going to be putting heavy vs. sniper, but only heavy vs. heavy or sniper vs. sniper, etc.
The applicant begins by stating his best four classes. The member will be the same class as the applicant at all times. Battles will be fought one class at a time, and the first person to get to fifteen kills for a certain class wins that round. The two then move to the next class, and so on in this manner until the four class battles have come to a close. The results will be analyzed and the current member will meet with other admins to discuss their thoughts on the battle, and the other member. They will them look at the voting results and come to a final decision.
The maps we will be using for testing members are dm_hans and pulp_tryout. If someone tries out for sniper, I'd imagine we'd have to work out something different on a long range map. We do not currently have any specifications on which classes should be tried on which maps, but from my short time testing, soldier and demoman work best on hans, while other classes work well on tryout.

Chuck vs. Greezy - A.S.A.P (His duel was supposed to be today, the 20th)
Google vs. Miht - May 1 (Most likely will not happen, his KDR is fine)
Pikapikachu vs ??? - May 2 (Have not seen this person in quite some time)
Aggro vs. ??? - May 6
Citizen vs. ??? - May 9
Beemithology vs. Miht - May 10
Dark Soul vs. Greezy - May 11
Uberlord vs. Jonesie - May 12
Kinseth vs. ??? - May 13
Monke vs. Greezy - May 20
Damn, that's a busy duel schedule.
Thanks,
Greezy

Jonesie is playing against me, or that is what he said, and I'll check my schedule to see if that date will work.

I need some one challenging. Maybe Jonesei could battle me also if that is possible. It would be fun with him. Or maybe someone more difficult like Taboo or I think Tendo. But not NICOBBQ. He is a newboob. lol jk

Re: Duels: Guidelines and Schedule
Ok guys, I would ask now that you please stop calling names for who to duel. We're going to set up duels so people that play the same classes go against each other. If you wish to request someone, you can contact me or Eraser with the request, and if it works out, we'll set it. Please, nobody should be dueling anyone without confirmation. We're trying to keep an accurate check of things.

Sorry but right now only admins can duel new members. We might change that rule in the future but this is what we agreed on.
Greezy, many thanks for setting up these guidelines. I've place Miht and Jonesie in the schedule. Maybe you would like to play against Chuck, Dark Sould and The Monke?
I have removed rustypan from the schedule, we can start voting for him soon.
Re: Duels: Guidelines and Schedule
Sure, I'll duel them. Chuck is top priority because his month was over yesterday, so I'll see if I can do that right away.

Um for the sake of keeping our sanity, I don't think that's gonna happen Dark.

Re: Duels: Guidelines and Schedule
Greezy, can you give us a heads up on which of the current applicants need to do a duel and for which ones the voting can start?
(based on their kd ratio and trial period)
Also i think if an applicant hasn't been active for a while maybe we should prolong the trial period?
Look at chuck for instance, last time on the server was 9 days ago: http://pulpfortress.clanservers.com/tf2stats/id/STEAM_0:0:15868121

Re: Duels: Guidelines and Schedule
For the duel. May 11th wont work out for me. I have to this camping thing for school and we have to do this preparation for it. So I'm going to have a day hike this week. A 3 overnight hike next week. So could be do it earlier or better yet postpone it?
