6 VS 6 Control Point Night
Seeing as how the last even was a complete success, I have decided to make another one. It isn't a PUG, its just more of a friendly game. It will be as the last 6 VS 6 event. It will be on the 21 May 2010 at 5:30PM EST (10:30 GMT). It'll be on the VIP server. I shall arrange a couple of these every Friday. I'll try to arrange the teams based up with skill. I wont have the GOOD people, who are in the SF & ESF, on one team, I will make the teams fair. I wont stack them either. The maps will be:
CP_Badlands
CP_Granary
CP_Freight
Five rounds of each map. You can be any class you wish.

Great initiative Jonesie!
One remark though. If it's just for fun then why let people pick a class in advance. Looks like a pug to me then with the only difference that all classes will be allowed.

I LET people choose whatever class they want, me and 69er just wished to play Soldier cause we love the class.
I put it in advance so we dont have people stepping in at the last minute.
The week after next, I'll be doing a Arena event.
Then the week after that, I'll do a intelligence one, then we'll start with KOTH again, then CP, then ARENA and INTEL. Different maps of course.

Not serious = screw around so I'll be in as an Engineer, spy or sniper!
Off course if it turns out all serious I will play demo or medic...
Cant wait for the Intel pug, I love playing engineer on intel maps, hiding teleporters, building sentries to stop them from taking the intel, capping intel as an heavy...

Ow lol, I actually got in as a Red Engineer! Ow well, guess we can all try out some new tactics to use
Tactics I thought of so far:
-While capping, build lvl 1 sentry as offensive support.
-While defending, build level 2 or 3 sentry as devensive support, tank with dispenser behind it if enough metal is available.
-Maps with multi spawn rooms: lvl 1 sentry for slower classes.
-Maps with one spawn-room: lvl 2 teleporter to mid point.
-Shotgun everybody at mid range, pistol on long range, wrench on short range.
Hope this works with all the solly spam...

No sentry can keep out an ubered demoman. Setting up sentries has been tried multiple time when defending the last cp on badlands and always resulted in that team losing (but i confess it's hard to fight back when you only have the last point to defend).

Count me in, I'll go scout. And don't be surprised when I pull my dear, powerful and long ambassador to make a ''fine job'' out of them.
Oh and I don't know if I can play very long, but I'll be able to play at least half an hour I think.

The event will be on for like 90 minutes to 2 hours!

Jonesie, my experience after organizing about 5-6 of the pugs now is the following:
-there always will be no-shows
-there will always be people who leave early
This will create delays because you cannot start an unbalanced game and because you need at least 5vs5 players and so you lose time looking for subs.
This has in the past resulted in every pug lasting for at least 2 hrs, most of the time 2,5 hrs and last time it even took 3hrs for playing 3 maps.
Of course it also depends whether one of the teams is stacked or not.
I highly advise you to copy/paste the link to the pug guidelines that Greezy and me have used in the past. If someone wants to participate in this game they should commit to 2,5 hrs of gameplay or otherwise be registered as a backup player. If someone doesn't show up or leaves in the middle of a game without a replacement he should not be allowed to play in the next 2 pugs.
