Desktop trumps laptop. Unless you can afford a very, very nice laptop.

Even then, it burns your lap, can't move the keyboard, need to hunch over to get a good look at the screen... Laptop's are all bad.

Laptops are good for nice average things like sitting outside and searching the web and stuff, but anything else, I believe PC wins.

lawl i play games on my laptop. all you have to buy is a 3 dollar lap pad for you laptop. and laptops arent all for gaming. and yes i am gettting a very nice laptop soon.

Well if I was going to get a laptop, I'd definitely get a PC first. I'd agree that the portability of laptops is an excellent, amazing feature. However, the price performance ratio is so poor by comparison of PC's. I was looking at new laptops, and even if you get a quad core i7 processor, the cores only clock at 1.9ghz-ish and the cache is significantly smaller. My i5 750 on my PC would destroy that, and I spent a lot less on it.

Also, overclocking is not really an option, you can't add a water cooler or heat sinks to a laptop. No crossfiring/SLI'd video cards, no adding extra hard drives, hard to customize, etc. I mean, I'd love a laptop now, but if I didn't have a great PC already, the choice would be (and was) obvious.

Reality: PC > Laptop
My opinion: Laptop > PC

I descided to be mobile even though it ment giving up on hardware upgrades. I LOVE being mobile and after 1.5 years of being mobile like this I can't imagine going back to a huge desktop that takes away the space I need and limits me to one single room.

Watching a movie with a laptop in bed > Watching a movie behind your PC
Gaming where I want > Gaming in one room
Easy transport and having your own settings EVERYWHERE > Hard transport and only have your settings in one place
Qieut fan > Loud fan (lol)

tl;dr: I prefer mobility over customizebility (is that a word?)

I think once you've really settled down somewhere, or you don't travel a lot, then desktops are definitely the better choice. Personally, I love laptops because I love taking them everywhere, even if it's just off the desk and outside. It's really kinda situational.
