Source TV issues explained Empty Source TV issues explained

OK let me clear up what exactly is happening with Source TV. One of the latest Valve updates changed the way bots are counted with the maxplayers cvar. They have yet to come up with a fix and our gameserver host is working on trying to get them to fix this. If someone starts watching sourcetv before all of the players join the regular game, that source tv watcher counts towards the maxplayers and prevents someone from taking that spot. This is why sometimes you guys see the "Server is Full" message during a pug/scrim. There are a few workarounds to get everyone in the game and allow up to 25 people to watch on source tv. Any of the following will work.

  1. The people who want to watch the pug/scrim can wait until they see all 12 players in there before joining sourcetv.
  2. The players who want to join after the pug/scrim started but are getting the "Server is Full" message can join via console. ie. Go into console and type (or copy and paste) connect 68.232.178.171:27015
  3. The final option if noone is cooperating with these top 2 would be to kick sourcetv.

We want to avoid kicking sourcetv unless absolutely necessary. It would make it so noone can watch the match. It also stops the recordings. Once Valve fixes this bug I will be sure to let you guys know. But for now we have to do what we can. That is unless someone would like to donate a source tv relay server.

During the Scrim earlier on tonight, Eraser had to kick SourceTV because it wasn't letting Gibbo in the server after he copied and pasted the Server IP and the Server Password in Console, so we had to kick SourceTV.

Yes in a case like this I would start asking people to leave sourcetv, wait 45 seconds to make sure they see your request to leave sourcetv, and if they don't then kick source tv.

Yes its very often when a pug or scrim is running and I watch it in hlsw (like the matrix) and I will see 3 or 4 people watching it.

The only PUGS I watch are the pugs that I've been told are really good and fair. Not all one sided so the other team gets entirely Steam Rolled!

I think he's talking about watching sourcetv which only has a 30 second delay so it's almost like watching it live.

Well, when you watch things LIVE, I think they only have a 3 second delay. That's what I was told!

I am pretty sure I am the one that configured the delay for sourcetv and selected 30 seconds. Not sure who told you 3. Too close for cheating.

I'm not sure who told me 3 seconds either. For the Exclusive PUG next Friday, how would you watch the match LIVE?

Jonesie there's no way to watch a match live. Otherwise someone on either team could be getting info from a friend on where people are, etc.

Getting slighly off-topic, but most live-broadcasts on TV use a 3 to 10 second delay in case something bad happens (ZOMG JACKSON'S NIPLLEZ!).

Anyway, you can just connect to the Source TV server by two ways;
-Add it to your favorites by inserting the IP adress
-Start TF2, Open the dev console (~) and type connect [server-ip].
I believe I added a url to source tv on the main site as well for an instant connect.
