PULP premium members hat rewarding policy

Since all of you like to play TF2 on our smooth servers maybe you have wondered how this all works financially? Well, at first me and Fubar paid the bill each month for the public server ($15 each a month). A little while ago Jameless managed to get his boss to donate $360, that was because me and him helped his boss setup a forum for him and he rewared our clan with a payment for a whole years rent of the public orange server of $30 a month. Now we also have the VIP server and which costs about $10 a month.

Jameless and me have discussed various ways of getting members to donate because in couple of months the money will dry up. We found a premium members plugin that gives players special ingame features. For instance the soldier gets 2 extra rockets, the scout gets extra sandman balls, the medic can fly with a sticky jumping demoman, etc. We thought this was way to OP and decided not to use this plugin because it would unbalance the game and cause people to leave the server.

Instead we found something else; a hat rewarding system! Since everyone likes hats so much we thought this is great way of rewarding donating members. It also won’t effect the gameplay in any way apart from you looking cool!

We currently have all the standard TF2 hats available for you as well as 50 other custom hats! So if you hate idling and crafting but really want that one hat, this is your chance!

So what is our policy then? Well we have thought about this come up with the following:
• Each time a member donates $15 he will get to choose his own custom hat
• A hat is bound to your steam ID and will only be available on the PULP servers
• Once a member receives a hat of his choosing the same hat won’t be given to someone else (with exception of level3 admins). This way the donation you make will make you truly individual since only you have that cool hat!
• Once a hat is chosen it cannot be traded anymore (unless it has a bug of some kind)
• Due to downloadtime and limited stockpile of hats you can only have a maximum of 5 custom hats at once. If you do more then donations worth of 5 hats you can trade them in for other hats or we will look for another perk to reward you with

We have also decided the following:
• Gibbo will receive 3 custom hats of his choosing because he has donated $50 on January 7th
• Pepper will receive 2 custom hats as reward for his efforts on setting up the website
• Panda will receive 1 custom hat for his efforts with setting up the pugs
• Nico will receive 1 custom hat for his efforts in the forum moderation
• Jonesie will receive 1 custom hat if he brings in 3 more skilled and mature players as new members (no noobz or kiddies)
• Jameless, Eraserhead and Fubar will have access to all hats will be administrating and configuring and testing the hats so don’t be surprised if you see them with crazy hats. They will have access to all hats.

The next step in developing this will be adding more custom hats and bodywear. What about a leather jacket for the soldier? Or something else you choose from fpsbanana or Facepunch ? We have to look into what’s possible and what’s not because skins are not wearable as items. They need to be rendered and compiled and that’s not easy. So no guarantees!

edit: the towering pillar of hats is not in the config file so i need some more time to see if i can set that one up for you gibbo.

I am going to be donating $20 bucks in about a week. I'm calling dibbs on Wizard hat for Soldier. And Dibbs on Tyrant's helm for soldier.

nice idea eraser and fubar and jamesless =D. people are bound to donate for some custom hats =D

Strange to see how people are willing to pay, erm donate just so they can get some hats that don't interfere with the gameplay at all :p if only we had used my 'secret update' page they would have known better xD

i think i should be given a free sniper hat (the ned kelly hat) as the only autralian on the server, mwahahahahhahhha.

you guys will get a donation from me soon enough, i've got another server i'm contributing to as well as my own server to upkeep (all on my own mind you). but as soon as i get some extra cash i'll halp out a bit.

so, if i were to make a custom hat (from scratch)..... could that work?

Hey Adam, your own custom hat would be great! Maybe you could also help with the stuff that can be found on fpsbanana and facepunch so we can make even more custom hats and other wearables available.

Towering pillar of hats is now available to you. I also rebooted both servers so you should be able to equip them.

i'll be sure to look into that, i've never actually imported a model into tf2, but i have quite a bit of experience with 3d modeling. if i figure it out i might be able to run a small commission for custom order hats (they take a while to make).

Once I donate 20 bucks, I'll be wanting the baker's boy and the pyro's sombrero.
