TF2 changed HUD?

I was watching a few TF2 vids when I noticed that some people's HUDs are different. I also noticed a "damage counter"- a number would appear over someone's head when they were hit, and I was wondering how they did this. The damage counter seems useful to me, does anyone know how they do this?

Somewhere in the TF2 Options you can find a button with advanced options on it. It will take you to a huge list of options ranging from re-scoping after a shot as a sniper to a damage counter. Quite usefull really, I have been using the damage counter myself for a while now since it helps me a lot as a lonely medic (are my needles hitting?!).

Or you can look for custom huds and shows up right above your health.

there's two options: one to show the damage done, and another to make a noise on hit. look through it, there are some really handy things.

One person on the Ubercharged.net forum made a Toasty HUD.
It's pretty sweet, you might wanna try it.

Google community hud it's awesome, if you want to learn how to manually edit it i can help you via pointing you to a guide and i have some experience myself.

Honestly I enjoy TF2's built in Minimal Hud. Looks nice and when updates come out to TF2 I don't have to worry about maintaining it on my own.
