Becoming a member Empty Becoming a member

Post by Furgus 21/12/2009, 22:59

Yo. When someone is trying to join the clan we not only need admins opinion but also the members. Lately in LB people have been getting in the clan easily without knowing a few people. Now people are insulting other memebers that they don't like. I'm afraid that may happen with us. In an app for membership we need as many opinions as possible. If you don't post anything that means there isn't any problem. So when there is a member that becomes a problem don't blame it on the admins that they let the member in. You guys need to state your opinion in order to make this clan the best as possible. Also people applying for membership shout have a seperate tag like ***PULP*** or something else so we know to keep a close eye on them.

Also we need a voting system. Like In order for someone to get in the clan. You need to admins vote and 2 members vote. and we could even have a pic. and post it in the app{showing the approval}.We need to come up with something like that.

Also we need to come up with an age limit. {maybe if needed}

Please take this into consideration if you don't want the clan to get torn apart by this in the future ***possibly***.

I totally agree on the first two parts.

However, I'm completely against the age limit. If someone's seven years old, but they're really good, don't whine at all, and show great sportsmanship, are you gonna deny them a spot in the clan just cause they're seven?

But yeah, a vote would be nice.

Thank you very much Dark Soul for this post. This is the kind of contribution i like to make the clan more professional.

What i propose:

Tags
-When someone applies they can wear this tag : [PULP]
-When they become an official member they can wear this tag: {PULP}
-A member of the scrim team: -{PULP}-
-An admin: {*PULP*}
-Or both: -{*PULP*}-

Application process
Someone can become a member when 2 admins and 2 members reply postively in the forum (i think this encourages usage of the forum and also forces the applying member to contact other members asking them to check his/her application (good idea Dark Soul Smile )

Age limit
About the age limit i have had some thoughts since the beginning:
I know much of you guys are half my age or even more. But i don't care about that.
Having said that i still would prefer that we don't get to many young ones. I have read other discussions about maturity levels but no one will convince me that a someone younger then 14 has had much expierence in life. It's not only about being good at the game, but this is a clan. Which means you also need other things like behaving as a teammate and have proper social skills. Maybe we should set the age limit to 14 as a minimum and i would also like to propose that we keep the ages balanced. Like i would personally not like it if the majority of the clan is younger then 16. So if you make an average of all the ages in the clan it should result in 18? Maybe excluding me and Fubar because we will pull up the average way high lol!

So let us think what your opinon is about all this my fellow clan members!!

hi all,

this is my idea about the tags,

fresh fish/new applies: just the [PULP]-tag in normal white letters ( white member )
official/approved member : the {PULP}-tag in GREEN letters ( only the pulp letters ) (green member )
scrim member : the {PULP}-tag in yellow/gold/orange letters (gold member )
admin member : the {PULP}-tag in red/black letters (red/black member)

to my opinion this makes it easy to see who is who on the server and there status

on application :

with the 2 admins and 2 member approval i'm ok , as long the new member give a good introduction of themeselves in the forum

age limit:

i'm the oldest sofar i think (incl. grey hair ) , but if a 14 year old kid proves he is an adult when it becomes to gaming and cybersocial behaviour i'm fine with it

like to hear your reactions about the colorsystem for tags ,

greets ,

Does anyone know how to color a playername? Maybe in HTML format?

Edit: I found it: coloring steam names

Edit2: It does not seem to work Sad . Also the major disadvantage of this system would be that you see a ^9 in front of your name in steam (it only shows the color ingame).

I suggest we start experimenting with coloring our names and lets see what looks best. IMHO it also still a possiblity to work with tags instead of colors because if you don't have a legend you don't know what it means anyway.

Well since we are doing the colored names. We should do it for the website. For example:

Registered users have their name in gray
Members have their name in orange
Admin have their name in blue
And Administrators{which is only eraserhead} Any other color

Also I'm think we have have an admin system. For example

God-Eraserhead
Senior Admins-Fubar, Gibbo, And Shadow
Admins-roaches, dark, tendo
junior admins- other memeber

For this example we could use this when we have a larger clan. The person applying for the clan would have to get more votes from admins. Meaning more opinion from around the clan and more participation. Also like the senior admins would like take in charge when eraserhead is not available or somethin happens. We could use senior admins and just admins right now. we could have two senior admins like Gibbo, fubar, and then a few admins until the clan gets bigger.

Any thoughts to this?

Wow! No one has ever called me a god before lol!

I think if you're talking about admin levels you have to major differences:

Server administrators
Thats only me currently. You can't have anymore then two people doing this otherwise you get problems with doing stuff that the other party has to know of and vice versa. What i mean by server admin is making sure the server+plugin run smoothly. For instance i had to disable RTD because the server kept crashing since the update. Also january the 15th a sourcemod update is scheduled which will take some time for me to upgrade. This is all done via FTP. I took me a big deal of time to get the webstats working which in my opinion is a very nice competitive difference with other clans who mostly use HLStatsX. The job also contains configuring server settings like map rotation, spawn time, admin levels, etc. Fubar also has FTP access but so far he has only uploaded maps.

Game admins
For the game admins we can make different levels. This is in sourcemod defined by flags as you can read here. I would like to know what your thoughts are on this guys.

I do think making different admin levels enables to have more admins and giving people a chance to prove themselves.

About the member name color: What do you mean by using it on the website DS? Where exactly?

Like for example below your avatar. Your names is located there. Maybe we could have different colors which might make it easier to recognize ranks.

What I'm talking about is not similar to what your talking about. In my old clan it was this way and my clan has survived for a couple of years with many members. They still exist.

Did you look at the sourcemod page with the flag system?

With your system i don't understand what the difference would be between senior, acting and junior admins. Would they have different admin rights or would it just be a title/rank?

Ok so since we agree on the system how which rights would senior, acting and junior admins have:

Name Flag Purpose
reservation a Reserved slot access.
generic b Generic admin; required for admins.
kick c Kick other players.
ban d Ban other players.
unban e Remove bans.
slay f Slay/harm other players.
changemap g Change the map or major gameplay features.
cvar h Change most cvars.
config i Execute config files.
chat j Special chat privileges.
vote k Start or create votes.
password l Set a password on the server.
rcon m Use RCON commands.
cheats n Change sv_cheats or use cheating commands.
root z Magically enables all flags.

I hought about it and this is how my old clan does it in css we use lvl 1,2,3,4 but here we use junor, acting, and serior which is fine.
For junior you use kick, vote, chat, changemap, slay, gag more mute, genetic since it is required,
acting i think is lvl 2.5 so it should have kick, vote, chat, changemap, slay, gag more mute, genetic, ban, unban, password, config, cvar
And Senoir kick,vote,chat,changemap,slay,gag more mute,genetic,ban,unban,password, config,cvar,cheats,rcon.
DO NOT GIVE ROOT OUT.
And if you ask me all the admins on the server sohuld have 1 slot reserved. so even if the game is filled, and there is aproblem admins can always go make room for senoiers, or fix the problem.

I have to look into the reserved slot thing. What i have seen on other servers is the more reserved slots the less other players can connect and a server will seldomly be filled. Unless a reserved slot means that a random player is kicked when an admin connects to a full server...

In my experience IKtR was filled a lot of the time but i could allways connect if i waited a minute or two and selected connect automatically.

About the distribution of rights i have to think about it.
