Mumble server
Ablindman told me that when you use steam voicechat there is a delay of about 1-2 seconds. This is a HUGE delay when playing scrims. There fore ALL teams who play in leagues use Mumble or another platform. If we are going to do more scrims i suggest we take a Mumble subscription which is only $3.36 for 10 slots. I guess we could still use normal voicechat for pugs.

I'd rather use TeamSpeak, or XFire!

The benefit of doing it with gameservers is we can switch to another protocol like TeamSpeak or Ventrilo for free if we find we don't like one or the other.

Re: Mumble server
Mumble. Mumble also would give us the benefit of positional audio. It is designed so you should be able to hear if a person talking behind you or from across the map. This would give us a strategical advantage in scrims.

Re: Mumble server
Whatever works best and doesn't make TF2 lag/causes a higher ping is fine by me, as long as it isn't X-Fire because I can't stand that program :/

Re: Mumble server
Teamspeak is the best quality but takes up some cpu usage
Vent I would think is the next best and takes up no cpu usage
Never used Mumble but I have heard it is bad

Re: Mumble server
Mumble is great. I recommend it.
I'm not sure the positional audio works for tf2 though. I've had it on in a few scrims and I didn't register anything different.

According to Mumble's website the positional audio in the latest version is supposed to work with TF2.

Re: Mumble server
You guys are arguing
over vent mumble and teamspeak, you want the one with the fastest response time. which is mumble. use what you want, but theirs a reason everyone in comp tf2 uses mumble and not vent.

Re: Mumble server
I think we can setup mumble next week. A 15 slot server so we can make two channels for when we do pugs.
Re: Mumble server
Eraser, I will get my guys to download XFire.

Re: Mumble server
Ok, as a mumble guy myself, I can say that this is very usefull. Compared to Vent and Teamspeak I find it much better. It's cheaper, it has many rooms so you could technically have two scrims going on while on mumble, and it has many features that make it easy for scrims. Like how it has all the names of the other players listed on the top right of your screen and when they are speaking.
I highly suggest mumble.
