This is just in:
Left 4 Dead 2 will be 50% off for the entire midweek!

In other words, no paying €50/$50 but €25/$25!
If you are a cheap bastard like me who only buys games under €30 that this your change to get it for a decent price.

Also, I just bought it even though I can't really mis the money this month. Thank god that I am allowed to be €500 in debt at my bank haha.

I highly advise you refrain from purchasing L4D2. Left 4 Dead was original, the atmosphere was amazing, and the campaigns didn't feel tacked on. Left 4 Dead 2 killed these things, and not to mention the characters are so forgettable. The characters in Left 4 Dead are really noteworthy, and compliment the events of the zombie apocalypse. So, I recommend you purchase L4D rather than L4D2. And, take it from me, I preordered both of them.

EDIT: No doubt the price will drop after The Passing DLC is released, and it includes the characters from Left 4 Dead.

Sorry Pepper i skimmed a bit too quickly there Very Happy

Yea i thought something like that Ninji, i liked the first hour playing L4D but then i got boring. I just becomes repetitive and predictable. I was expecting part 2 to be more of the same and so far no one has convinced me otherwise.

Yea, it's really just a hash-fest of zombies. I just wish there was more to it, but besides the five or so special zombies there is nothing exciting. With L4D2 there were some new weapons and some new special zombies, and not much else. I'll need a 80% off sale before I buy that game.

I don't really understand the appeal of L4D either. It seems kind of repetitive...

ZOMBIEAPOCALYPSE! That's whats makes it appealing to me. Trying to survive in a world filled with stupid mindless zombies that want to eat you, hot looking witches and some zombie with a tentacle that keeps grabbing the girls. Also, I never played the first part so I don't really care about which one was better. I just bought 2 in an impulse (101) because it was on sale...
Strange thing though, L4D2 performs better on my laptop than TF2 which is really weird. Ow well, gonna buy a new one this May with a nice budget of around €800 so I dont mind.

I cant wait for Portal 2, HL2ep3/HL3 myself. I am positive they will release it in an Orange Box format (Blue box!). Perhaps the L4D2 DLC, Portal 2 and HL2ep3/HL3 or something like that. who knows since Valve just loves to screw with us.

Have you completed the new Portal achievement that Valve slipped in under the radar? I did. Omw, is it amazing. Especially after receiving my April Game Informer with a 12 page thing on Portal 2.

Completing the new portal achievement?? please elaborate! When i open the page the images won't load completely for me, it happens when i open facepunch website too. I think it must have something to do with the size of them being to big for my crappy connection to handle.

A month or so ago, Valve updated Portal. In the update: A new achievement, and 26 hidden radio's in every level. All the radio's have a red light on the front of them, you pick them up, and carry them to a specific part of the map, where the music from the radio will fizz out as you get closer to the zone, and when it is within the zone, you will hear a mores code. If you do this for all 26 radios, not only do you get the achievement, you also get a freaking new ending. Let us leave it at the following; the new ending is amazing.

You were looking for an excuse to use those smilies, eraser.

I don't know about anyone else, but I've been playing this series since I was about 12 (2003 ish) but I used to watch my dad play HL1 way back in the 90s. Half-Life is basically the definition of an epic, and not only am I wicked excited for Portal 2 (which I think we can agree is at least in the same universe as HL, especially from ep2 hints) but ep3 will probably blow our minds. For example, who is the G-man, why is Gordon the hero, what's the combine's mo, is there something else behind this, SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!

Oh, and if anyone hasn't said this before, do you notice just how much detail and effort Valve puts into their games? I mean the big ones, HL, TF2, Portal, ect. A fantastic amount, honestly. Even outside the game, all the secret stuff and promotional comics, not to mention the foreshadowing they do within their story line.

Hence why Valve is so highly regarded, and why they are still independent.

^ This, seriously!

One of the things I like most about Valve and the independent Black Mesa mod team is that they both want to release a fully completed and fine-tuned game instead of some unfinished pile of steaming crap. Seriously, a lot of companies rather make it to the deadline then actually finish a game. Worst thing about this all is that we actually buy those unfinished bug filled games because of the hype. Glad I don’t do hypes and stick with games that I find interesting instead of what the commercials say what’s interesting…

The best thing about Valve is that they want to release a complete game rather than an unfinished one because the big boss says so.

Jeez now i feel old i played HL1 about a year after it came out scratch

But seriously it's kinda nice to see how games have evolved. In my memory HL1 was so great but about half a year ago i started replying it again and i quit halfway because i found it way too boring! Sleep But in the old days i was just amazed by that game, one of the best and first FPS experiences evah!

Btw the first FPS game i played (which came out in the same year) was Unreal released in 1998.

Well thanks guys because you made me feel even older. My first FPS that I really got into was Quake 1 (1996, 14 years ago before some of you could spell and before some of you were born Sad ). I thought the graphics were awesome and way better than doom. I got super into it and played lots of the mods. Then HL1 came out with the nice HUD. We were drooling over it. Man I feel old.
