The age limit has obvious drawbacks: it wrongly excludes those that have maturity beyond their years and permits those that have maturity/insecurity issues but are “of age”. It really isn’t a great way to assess one’s overall value. What it does provide, however, is a hard barrier. One that can be called on as a “that’s just the way it is” justification for turning away less than desirable applicants.

The maturity requirement has hidden dangers as well. While it does provide a means for the right people to get in, it allows a way for the desperate ones that don’t deserve it. The internet does not provide the best medium for evaluating someone and it is very easy to “fake” maturity and fudge past this soft barrier. Unfortunately, the only people that would do that are often the most insecure and dangerous, the exact kind of people we hope to filter out in the first place.

What we are looking for is a very flexible solution for vary ambiguous situations that can also be applied to the average applicant. I propose that, from the outside, the application process should be clear, but the criteria should be very vague. From the inside, maybe create a board only visible to members for the discussion of the applicants. Voting would be taken care of on these semi-private boards as well. If the applicant does not know who the clan is looking for they will just be themselves, and that’s what we want in the first place. In the event of a rejection, the “that’s just the way it is” fallback could be taken as well.

Out of the two mentioned options, the later (get rid of the age requirement) is the one I prefer. But we will have to be very careful.

Who's to say they can't lie about their age? Some people have deep voices sooner than others, but even if they have a squawky 12 year old voice, they can use text chat... Age isn't very determinable on the internet.

I prefer the age limit because; We don't really want little kids in the clan. They would be really annoying for us. We would have to tell them to not use their mic, until their voice breaks. The list just goes on & on & on & on.

It wouldn't be a good idea to have a Maturity Filter and a Age Limit, because even if the people, who apply, are over 16, and they are not mature, then we wouldn't be able to accept them because they havn't been mature to us. We'd have to tell them to buck up their ideas a bit more, then maybe in the near future, we can accept them into the clan, we can accept everything they say seriously, and not listen to all their douche bag- sayings.

ya so im 2 years under. and your 1 year under. me and jonsie soon to be 1 year under i presume. but about the voting. the either the regulars cant or i cant vote in polls. but also like a said before there are some members that are not on the forums but ingame. impalsi is one. also dual gunna just got back so there are those dead members.

I vote in the order of losing the age limit because you can't judge a book by it's cover but the restrictons for the younger members should be tightened, making sure they play enough for most of to play with them a few times.

Ok, my opinion even though it will probably be sucked in by the mass of this thread but w/e. I think you should have the age limit but if you have exceptions you should have certain they show maturity, have a system of +'s and -'s like explained by other people and they have to get atleast 10 positive because the clan is growing rapidly, and they have to be within the top 100 in rank. I mean, to get under 100 you have to really put your head against the grind stone to show dedication to get there or play casually for a long amount of time so you can know whether they are mature so it evens out...

First of all Bullet, stop calling people fags because you didn't really know Xory, so you can't really call him a fag if you don't know him. Also when you call Gizmo a 'fag' because whenever you kill Gizmo he rages or he gets very mad. Thats just the way he is. I could say horrible things about you, but there'd be no point whatsoever.
