Music you'd like to share
I was gonna post this on an existing thread, but there really isn't one for music yet (although there's like three for YouTube videos).
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] released [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] about a month ago, and I wanted to share a bit of it with ya'll.
This song is called "The White Death". Surprisingly enough, it's about the White Death.
You pansy-ass Snipers out there wish you were a fraction as good as that man...
Between his rifle and his SMG, he got a K/D ratio of greater than 700:1.
I should provide a little backstory here... mind you, he did this in real life.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Simo Häyhä had a fairly boring life in Finland. He served his one mandatory year in the military, and then became a farmer. But when the Soviet Union [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] in 1939, he decided he wanted to help his country.
Since the majority of fighting took place in the forest, he figured the best way to stop the invasion was to grab his trusty rifle, a couple of cans of food and hide in a tree all day shooting Russians. In six feet of snow. And 20-40 degrees below zero.
Of course when the Russians heard that dozens of their men were going down and that it was all one dude with a rifle, they got fucking scared. He became known as "The White Death" because of his white camouflage outfit, and they actually mounted whole missions just to kill that one guy.
They started by sending out a task force to find Häyhä and take him out. He killed them all.
Then they tried getting together a team of counter-snipers (which are basically snipers that kill snipers) and sent them in to eliminate Häyhä. He killed all of them, too.
Over the course of 100 days, Häyhä killed 542 people with his rifle. He took out another 150 or so with his SMG, sending his credited kill-count up to 705.
Since everyone they had was either too dead or too scared to go anywhere near him, the Russians just carpet-bombed everywhere they thought he might be. Supposedly, they had the location right, and he actually got hit by a cloud of shrapnel that tore his coat up, but didn't actually hurt him, because he's the fucking White Death, damn it.
Finally on March 6th, 1940, some lucky bastard shot Häyhä in the head with an exploding bullet. When some other soldiers found him and brought him back to base, he "had half his head missing." The White Death had finally been stopped...
...for about a week. In spite of having come down with a nasty case of shot-in-the-face syndrome, he was still very much alive, and regained consciousness on March 13, the very day the war ended.
Keep in mind that he did all of that using only a standard-issue [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] bolt action rifle.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] released [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] about a month ago, and I wanted to share a bit of it with ya'll.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] went on to live a full life and died peacefully on April 1, 2002 at the age of 96.
Note that he wasn't the only badass fighting for Finland during the Winter War; the rest of the Finnish army fought so valiantly that Sabaton had published [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] in their 2008 album.

Urgh tool. Listening to tool is painful.
The rest is fine though.
I'll just add one band, and a video. Our Lady Peace. They're super popular here in Canada but they have a hard time in America.

Re: Music you'd like to share
I formally apologise at your misunderstanding of Tool. Tool means a lot to me, their songs are so moving, and powerful; might I ask what your experience with Tool has been in the past? Maybe you listened to a few butchered songs on the radio, or you were forced to listen to them, and that is why you don't like them?Young Greezy wrote:Urgh tool. Listening to tool is painful.
Re: Music you'd like to share
They were in guitar hero 4. Three songs.
It was an all tool setlist, you HAD to play them in order, on the drums. It was soo...bad.

And any Queen song ever made. I left out a lot of my favorites, but I would have a giant list...

Re: Music you'd like to share
I beg of you to torrent Tool's discography, and listen to the abum Lateralus all the way through, and tell me you aren't positively blown away. Ænema is a much more radio friendly album, and is way easier to get into, but Lateralus is pure art, for the lack of a better word.Young Greezy wrote:They were in guitar hero 4. Three songs.

For some REAL rock and roll:
That's all for right now. Maybe later I'll do a few zeppelin ones.

Re: Music you'd like to share
Zurkov, i used to listen to metal like that, heavy metal, thrash metal, death metal, grindcore, the works. I was 14 at the time, i went to concerts small and big ones. I had long hair and watched MTV's headbangers ball .
After a year or 2-3 i started listening alternative music. I remember nirvana (i just looked them up and their first album was from 1991 omg), i remember when i listened to it, i must have been 16-17 then. I also remeber MTV Unplugged and Curt Cobain shooting himself in the head with a shotgun.
Pearl Jam also had good memories for me and red hot chili peppers of course yes!
Vlad, i liked the clip for Mad World, very creative. I LOL'ed at I'm the Boss!
One very powerful song/band i'm missing here is Rage Against the Machine, man did i go wild in the moshpit on this song:
And here a nice live version i really enjoyed watching, look at'em go wild:
Hyce, i love AC/DC when driving. Highway to hell!
Sgt. Pepper, what a faces that Gary Moore makes
Body movin: no longer available.
Ride of the valkyries, excellent battle music. I've played that with HLDJ ingame once. There nothing better then the smell of napalm in the morning!
I like the camera angle on the John Entwistle solo btw.
Haha alles naar de klote LOL OH LOL, this is my answer to that one:
My answer to Erik Satie:
This is my answer on your hiphop clip:
DJ Q-Bert is my all time favourite in turntabalism. I respect that bass solo from Entwistle but i can tell you that this stuff requires just as much skill:
Here is some more amazing stuff:

If you want to see a great documentary about scratching and hiphop watch this, really gave me some energy watching this, i think i watched it 4 times already although i'm not a hip hop fan but the whole rising of the scene bears many resemblances with the underground tekno scene i was in.
And from hiphop it brought me to this:
Oh and Vlad, after watching the Sparta remix clip i have to answer it with this one:

Rage Against The Machine! Of course, how could I leave them out? I wish I could see them live, especially because they frequantly open for Tool; Tom Morello knew Adam Jones before either band got big.Eraserhead wrote:One very powerful song/band i'm missing here is Rage Against the Machine, man did i go wild in the moshpit on this song
Erm, Bleach came out in 89. But hardly anyone considers that album, anyway.Eraserhead wrote:I remember nirvana (i just looked them up and their first album was from 1991 omg)
It's ok, Bleach, I love you just as much as I love your brothers.
Re: Music you'd like to share
Am I the only one who thinks Nirvana is overrated?
Also: Bleach > In Utero > Nevermind
Also: Bleach > In Utero > Nevermind
Re: Music you'd like to share
Hurray! Finally, someone who agrees with me exactly!Sgt Pepper wrote:Am I the only one who thinks Nirvana is overrated?
Also: Bleach > In Utero > Nevermind
Re: Music you'd like to share
ok ok, nevermind wasn't the first album you win! But it was the first i listened too and made a permanent impression. Just like the first album of RATM, i never listened to the second one properly. And also Pepper i can imagine why you say it's overrated, i think if i would here it now for the first time i would not be impressed. It's a time thing and for me it's got a lot of nostalgic value.
Also i forgot Nine Inch Nails of course, so ff'ing brilliant Trent Reznor is, he is the reason i went from industrial to tekno.

Re: Music you'd like to share
Not saying Nirvana is bad or anything, they even added something to the present day music! However, there are a lot of teens who believe Nirvana is the best band ever. Strangely enough these people have only heard Nevermind...
