lol, the guide is also good for teaching you work out routines. It teaches you how to be fit in categories of durability, endurance, strength, and agility. And because it tells you to still have some meat on your bones due to how you could be left without good food for long periods of time, you won't be a stick man or a muscleman. Just an average joe with the upper hand.

Re: The Zombie Survival Guide (book)
Of course this book is pure fiction and I hardly follow it. I already have my won zombie apocalypse survival plan ready but the book helped me tune it. Also, I still have a nice red crowbar next to my bed but that's more because last summer there where a lot of burglars active in my neighborhood. Kinda felt unsafe but I didn't want to sleep with my windows closed so I just bought it for protection (lol).
Re: The Zombie Survival Guide (book)
you guys realize that silencers don't work the way they do in movies, right? they just make a big gun sound like a slightly smaller gun.

Re: The Zombie Survival Guide (book)
Yes, but silenced small caliber shots sound unidentifiable and muffled. No reason to go big in the Zombacalypse.

Re: The Zombie Survival Guide (book)
having super-sonic rounds negates the effectiveness of any silencer, in fact, one of the main reasons good silencers reduce the noise is because they slow down the bullet to sub-sonic speeds. a small caliber rifle (like .22) needs that speed to get any sort of target penetration due to its low weight. this is not an issue with heavier rounds like the 10mm and .223, but even with a silencer they are louder than an silenced .22.
the best option (in my opinion) is a relatively heavy .22 target rifle with modified set of post/aperture sites. my rifle in particular has a 1.2 inch diameter barrel that soaks up all the excess movement that causes noise. it makes hardly any sound except for the crack as the bullet leaves the barrel at 1,300 feet-per-second.

Re: The Zombie Survival Guide (book)
You really don't need much penetration to go through an eye socket or through the skull of a dead creature even after one marginal day of decomposition. Bone density plummets quickly with no circulation. .22's don't make much sound no matter what you're using, too.
In this theoretical apocalypse, you should not be making long distance shots that would weaken the round. If they're that far away you're best off waiting for guaranteed kills or to flee. .22 rimfire is all you need, more is a waste.
They're called sights, by the way.

TBH, under any realistic circumstances it doesn't matter how loud your gun is... they only hear it if you miss.

Re: The Zombie Survival Guide (book)
My weapons of choose:
Melee: Most likely a crowbar for the durability, utility tool, and can easilty disable a zombie by smashing it's skull in through temple area.
Short Range Melee Combat knife held on a strap on my shoulder area for quick retrieval and putting me into a position to jab the zombies lower jaw easily eliminating it.
Sidearm: Probably a 9mm.
Main Weapon: Probably some sort of rifle that is silenced in some way.
I'm only knowledge in ZCQC so I don't know much about firearms and what's effective. If it's accurate, can reach the brain, and is atleast a little silent, it's ok with me.
